Last week, a special celebration was held for Hagar Cambodia’s children, called ”Hands Up!”  In Phnom Penh, nearly 100 guests attended.  All evening, the kids ran the show.  Girls sang.  Boys danced hip-hop.  Hagar staff member Sue Hanna said, “I was very, very proud of them all.  They were confident, and they performed their hearts out.”

Rithy shares his story
Rithy tells his story

Rithy, who came to Hagar at 12 years of age, gave the keynote address. Now a medical student at university, Rithy’s life has been a remarkable journey.  Last Thursday night, he talked about the abuse he endured as a child.  How he was an orphan on the streets.  He used drugs.  Then, he told the crowd, “When I joined Hagar my life changed.  I received care and love.  I knew I had the right to talk and the right to express my ideas.”

Rithy’s story is one of remarkable transformation. His is not the only one.   In her own way, Srey’s journey is remarkable, too.  Read her story here.

I invite you to join Hagar to help more people reach their dreams.   Friend us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter.  Sign up to receive our monthly prayer requests.  Change lives by donating now.

About

Emily founded Stop Traffick Fashion in 2009. She’d been becoming more and more involved in the abolitionist movement, and she decided to start STF as an opportunity to bring together the best of all products made by survivors of trafficking. She hopes her response to trafficking will inspire others to take action, even in a small way. Emily lives in Cincinnati, enjoys traveling, and has visited Hagar International and StopStart in Cambodia.
