What is Stop Traffick Fashion?
Stop Traffick Fashion provides opportunities and hope for survivors of sex trafficking while offering unique clothing and accessories. STF customers really do change the lives of trafficking victims, one beautiful item at a time! Each purchase from Stop Traffick Fashion directly helps the survivors and the organizations rescuing them. People who have been rescued from their captors make almost all of our accessories and receive income from STF sales. In addition, a portion of all sales revenue is donated back to our partner organizations that rescue victims and provide rehabilitation and training. To find out more, visit our About Us page.
What is human trafficking and modern day slavery?
Human trafficking is the fastest growing form of international crime and the second largest source of income for organized crime, surpassing even the drug trade. Today 27 million men, women and children are held as slaves in hard labor work, the sex industry, or as soldiers. Each year, more than 2 million children are exploited in the global commercial sex trade. Greed and money drive slavery; according to the U.N., the total market value of human trafficking is over $32 billion. In 2007, slave traders made more money than Google, Nike and Starbucks combined.
Some people assume this issue only affects other parts of the world—the third world or places where lack of education fuels poverty and ignorance. However, an estimated 17,500 people from other countries are trafficked into the United States each year.
What impact does my purchase have? Who benefits?
Our products are part of a vital step in the rehabilitation of women rescued from trafficking: job skills training to help them earn a sustainable income and support their families. All of the women who make our products are paid a fair wage, which gives them the money they need for health care and savings as well as for safe childcare and school supplies for their kids. The work they do changes their lives now and smoothes a path for long-term change in the years and generations to come.
In addition, Stop Traffick Fashion donates a portion of all revenue to our partner organizations that work around the world rescuing victims and providing rehabilitation for survivors.
Where are STF items made?
All over the world! We have t-shirts and bags and jewelry from India, jewelry from Thailand and Uganda, bags from Cambodia and bath and body products from Nashville, Tennessee.
What about the working conditions?
Each of our vendors are a little different, but here’s what they have in common: the workers who make our products are paid fair wages and work in supportive environments. They work a reasonable number of hours, with breaks throughout the day and days off during the week. They have access to the healthcare and childcare they need. Each of our partner organizations also maintains strict safety standards that often go above and beyond the safety requirements of the country where they’re located.
