It’s January and many of us are stuck in the dreary sugar-crash that follows the most wonderful time of the year. Here at Stop Traffick Fashion we’re rising above the melancholy to gear up for an exciting new year. We’re evaluating our progress and setting new goals.

On the blog, here are our new/continued goals:

  1. • We aim to help you learn more about human trafficking.
    • We want to show you how to empower women.
    • We strive to highlight some of the best fair trade products around (ours and others).

Overall, as our business grows and changes, we want to see more of this:

Empower Women. End Human Trafficking.

More lives changed. More women and children free to learn and live. More smiles. More genuine joy.

Your personal goals are powerful too.

In recent years, I’ve made a commitment to buy only fair trade chocolate and coffee. This year, I’m going to be on the prowl for fair trade clothes (beyond my dear Freeset Tees).  This will be tougher, I think, especially because I’m a cheapskate, but I’m determined to find some good staples that don’t exploit women and children. I’ll share my journey with you as I go. (Perhaps I’ll start with these classy new fair trade kicks.)

I’m also going to read at least two books this year about human trafficking and how to empower women. To start, I’m going to finish Half the Sky, a book about empowering women by Nicolas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn. I’m also going to read The Slave Across the Street by Teresa Flores, a memoir about human trafficking in the U.S. I’ll share what I learn from each book here on the blog.

How are you resolving to fight human trafficking this year? Let us know in the comments or email me. Plus, you can tell us what slave-free or STF products you give your friends and family over the holidays.

I want to make fewer impulse purchases so that I can research things and make more ethical shopping decisions! Oh, and I’ll try to eat more vegetables, too.
